Thatte is the Kannada word for plate and this flatter idli takes its name from its shape that is reminiscent of a flat disc or a plate.   3. Mix both paste, add salt, curd, oil and soda bicarb.
  4. Grease thali idli plate. Take water in a steamer and boil water.
  5. Now pour a ladleful or little more and steam for 15 -17 minutes or till done.
  6. Remove from plate and sprinkle podi.Serve hot with chutney and sambhar.
