  5. Add the spinach, carrot, shiitake mushrooms, and konnyaku to Step 4, then mix.

Stir-fry until the tofu is lightly colored, three to five minutes, and add the garlic, ginger and chili flakes. Cook, stirring, until fragrant, about one minute, and add soy sauce to taste. Toss in the sesame seeds and cook for another minute. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate. Shiraae (白和え), pronounced [shi-ra-ah-eh], is a vegetable side dish with a mixture of mashed tofu, toasted sesame seeds, miso and a touch of sugar.
